Jeffrey Yourdon is the Program Head for Culinary Arts at Lenoir Community College. Yourdon is a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America and is a Certified Executive Chef with the American Culinary Federation.
Lenoir Community College Culinary Arts is designed to provide students with knowledge and hands on skills necessary for employment as a trained culinary professional in a variety of food service settings including full service restaurants, hotels, country clubs, catering operaŽtions, contract food service and health care facilities.
The Culinary Technology program at Lenoir Community College has provided quality comprehensive culinary arts training for more than 26 years. The program is one of only eleven in North Carolina. The current associate degree curriculum provides students with knowledge and skills necessary for employment in many food serŽvice establishments including sales, marketing, full service restaurants, internships that can lead to employment at many resort areas like Disney. Course offerings emphasize practical application, a strong theoretical knowledge base, professionalism, and provides the critical competencies to successfully meet industry demand. Courses also include sanitation, food/beverage service, cost control, baking, garde manger, American/InŽternational cuisine, food production and hospitality supervision.
