NRF Services
As an organization that works to promote stewardship of our waterways and to educate the public on how to better care for our environment, the NRF offers a number of services to the public.  Please contact our Raleigh office at (919) 856-1180 or our New Bern office at (252) 637-7972 with questions regarding availability or if you do not see what you are looking for listed here.

Speaking and Teaching

With a bit of advance notice, one of our Riverkeepers, staff members, or a member of our Board of Directors will be happy to help you or your group learn more about the Neuse River or other topics of interest.  Contact us to schedule your event today!

We provide:
  • Guest speakers on topics like water quality, environmental policy or science, volunteerism, and environmental stewardship;
  • Classroom visits and coursework for most grade levels, including topics specifically designed to enhance the North Carolina 5th and 8th grade science curriculum;
  • Training on environmental advocacy and how to address water quality problems in your community;
  • Guided site visits of construction sites, on-site stormwater management systems or green building facilities;
  • Guided educational volunteer opportunities for groups as small as 5 and as large as 500...just ask us how we can work together to better our brains and our rivers!

Paddling

Boat lending and guided trips are available year-round throughout the basin, please visit our Paddle Map page for information on trip lengths.  While we love to get out onto the water, without significant advanced notice we cannot guarantee that boats or staff will be available on a specific time and date.  We encourage you to invest in our local communities; please support one of the professional Neuse River Basin Outfitters; these folks rent great equipment and offer full-service, guided trips.

While we do not charge for the loan of our boats or the services we provide on guided trips, each of these actions has associated expenses that we appreciate your help in covering. We know it can be difficult to judge what’s appropriate for services like this—it’s not something you do as often as figuring out a tip—so we’ve provided a suggested donation guide below to help you learn about what it costs for us to provide these services.   Download information and waiver forms here.
